Excerpt: So … what do I mean by “leading from the center”? I’m an engineer by training, and envision a gyroscope as my mental image of leading from the center. As external conditions spin and swing, the center of the gyroscope — the “rotor” as it’s called — remains balanced and in control. The opposite image to me, is that of a windsock. I believe it’s essential in times of dramatic change – in stormy conditions, if you will – to stay centered, not to shift to-and-fro with the wind.
